Our Emergency Communications Project Jeep is essentially complete. It
started out in the tradition of the many Jeeps that were used from
WWII to Vietnam which were equipped with communications gear intended
to go anywhere and get the job done. It is equipped for Search &
Rescue communications support and off-road search.
This website details the products and systems we have installed to
create a Jeep that remains street-legal, but can also go just about
anywhere to provide multiple modes of communications support for
Search and Rescue or disasters. We can run HF, VHF, and UHF in
multiple modes - voice (AM/FM/SSB), CW (Morse Code), and several
different data modes. Our goal in emergency communications is
"Understand The Situation, and Communicate Clearly".
The Jeep is not only equipped with a good deal of two-way ham radio
gear and a one-way radio scanner, but also with lights, a winch and
other recovery gear, tools, and a lift kit which makes us very
capable off-road (4+ rated trails on the old system) while still
remaining street legal according to Utah laws. Thanks to our TeraFlex
lift, our motto now is "We Can Get There, Understand The
Situation, and Communicate Clearly" - no matter where
"there" is.
Our summer show season is starting again, and we are also working on
an ATV for Search & Rescue which can be towed behind the Jeep and
will enhance our abilities. .
